Human Nextwork is a game development company that exists in the world of RWBY. It is the company that develops RWBY: Amity Arena.
History[]
Before joining Human Nextwork, an unknown developer worked alongside Arthur Watts and Pietro Polendina on a project assigned by James Ironwood for future Atlesian Military developments. The developer and Watts shared a close friendship, and both had an ingenuity for creating "killing machines." It was thought that their friendship could overcome any bickering between the group, but this was proven wrong when Watts faked his death to take revenge on Ironwood and Polendina.[1]
Around the time of the 40th Vytal Festival, Human Nextwork partnered with the Schnee Dust Company and the Atlesian Military to create the Scroll game RWBY: Amity Arena. At least two developmental labs were used to model the competing Huntsmen,[2][3] as well as perform various physical tests.[4] Ruby Rose and Yang Xiao Long were among the first to be modeled.[2] Pyrrha Nikos was brought in to record a tutorial for the Battle of Beacon game mode.[5]
Prior to the Festival, due to Arslan Altan's physical test results, Development Labs 1 and 2 held a bet on whether Arslan's team, Team ABRN, would make it to the semi-finals of the tournament, with Lab 1 betting that ABRN would. However, with ABRN's loss in the first round, Lab 1 lost the bet, and a large amount of Lien as well.[4] While Roy Stallion was being modeled, an intern messed with his weapon, causing the intern to lose the top of their hands and decapitating two Atlesian Knight-200s. For this, the intern had their pay docked for a year by Winter Schnee.[3]
While modeling Velvet Scarlatina, Velvet informed the company that her Semblance does not allow her to copy all abilities or other peoples' Semblances, but this was changed in-game to better fit the style of Amity Arena.[6] Meanwhile, information on Raven Branwen and her Semblance was provided by Raven's brother Qrow after getting intoxicated in a cantina.[7]
Sometime after the Vytal Festival, Human Nextwork was bribed by the Shopkeep to add him to the game.[8]
