Trophies in RWBY: Amity Arena indicate a player's or Academy's skill rating. Players can gain and lose Trophies by winning and losing battles.
Earning Trophies unlocks new Arenas (and, by extension, new units), and by reaching 3000 Trophies, the player can enter Leagues. However, losing enough Trophies will cause players to be demoted to the previous Arena. For example, if a player was on Emerald Forest, they would be demoted to Beacon Academy upon reaching 350 Trophies, and they would have to make it back to 400 Trophies to make it back to Emerald Forest.
